Terms of use

These terms govern the use of CanQuiz. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them.

The service

CanQuiz lets you create quizzes from your own material, practice them, share them and review them. It is built and operated by Michel Fernando Rodrigues Flores as an independent developer. Today it is offered at no cost and without a subscription. AI generation is included within a usage limit; you can also supply your own API key and generate without that limit. It can also be used from ChatGPT or Claude, by connecting your account.

Your account

You need an account to create, save and share quizzes. You are responsible for activity carried out with your account. You must be 14 or older to use CanQuiz, including when you use it from ChatGPT or Claude, which also have their own minimum ages. If the law where you live sets a higher age for accepting these terms on your own, you also need the permission of a parent or guardian. You are not asked your age: by using CanQuiz you declare that you meet it, and if an account is found to belong to someone under 14, it is deleted along with its content. If you supply your own API key, you are responsible for keeping it safe.

Your content

The material you upload and the quizzes you create remain yours. By using the service you grant CanQuiz the technical permission needed to store and display them, and if you publish a quiz, to serve it to anyone holding the link. You undertake to upload only material you hold rights to, and not to upload sensitive personal data or confidential documents. When you share a quiz. By making a quiz reachable by link or listing it in Explore, you grant other users a non-exclusive, free, worldwide licence to open it, practice with it, keep a copy in their account and edit that copy, within CanQuiz. That is what the duplicate button does and the reason it exists. The licence applies going forward: if you stop sharing the quiz, it can no longer be copied from that moment on, but copies somebody already made remain theirs. You keep authorship and every other right over what you wrote. When you paste a link, CanQuiz reads that page on your behalf to extract its text. It identifies itself as CanQuiz when doing so, reads only what is publicly accessible, and does not keep the page: it retains what is needed to build your quiz, and that is deleted after ninety days. Videos, on the other hand, CanQuiz does not process: nothing is taken from a YouTube link. Whether it is a page or text you paste, you choose the source, so make sure you have the right to use that material.

Acceptable use

You may not use CanQuiz to publish unlawful or misleading content or content infringing third-party rights, nor to attempt to breach the security of the service, automate access abusively, or consume resources in a way that degrades the service for others. To appear in Explore, a quiz also may not contain hate speech against people for who they are, sexually explicit content, harassment or mockery of real, identifiable private people, practical instructions for causing serious harm (weapons, making drugs, self-harm), scams, spam or advertising disguised as a quiz, or other people's personal data such as phone numbers, addresses or ID numbers. Academic material on sensitive subjects (medicine, criminal law, the history of wars, religion or politics taught neutrally) is fine.

Reports, moderation and contact

Anyone can report content, with or without an account, from the “Report” button on every public quiz. The form asks you to explain what is wrong and for a good-faith declaration, and you can leave your name and email if you want an answer; if you do, CanQuiz confirms it arrived and tells you what gets decided. Before a quiz appears in Explore, it goes through an automated review: an AI model reads all of it and checks it against what the acceptable use requires of Explore quizzes. If it falls short, or is too long to be read in full, it is not listed and the app tells you; the quiz is still yours and you can share it by link, which this review does not cover. If the review is unavailable at that moment, the quiz is listed and reports remain. Changing the title or the questions of a listed quiz takes it out of Explore until you publish it again, and it is reviewed again then. If you think the review got it wrong, write to hello@canquiz.com with the quiz's link and a person will look at it. Reports are read by a person, not an automated system, and are handled in order, giving priority to those reporting something unlawful over those flagging a content error. If a quiz is taken down, its author is told why, and both the author and the reporter can reply to that email if they disagree, as well as turn to the competent authority or the courts. Unlawful content, content infringing third-party rights, and content breaching the acceptable use in these terms is taken down. Taking down means no longer serving it at all: neither listed nor reachable by link. Point of contact. AI and accuracy

CanQuiz generates quizzes with artificial intelligence. By default it does so through its own providers, within a monthly usage limit. That limit can change because of what the AI costs or to stop abuse: if it goes down for everyone, the app says so in advance, and if an account abuses the service, its own limit can go down straight away. You can also supply your own API key and generate without that limit, paying the provider directly for what you use. In both cases the material you send is transmitted to the relevant provider to build the quiz. Quizzes are generated automatically and can contain errors: review the questions and answers before studying from them or sharing them. CanQuiz does not warrant the accuracy of generated content and is not responsible for academic decisions taken on the basis of it.

Using CanQuiz from ChatGPT or Claude

You can connect your account to ChatGPT or Claude to create, change, share, make private and practice your quizzes from the chat. What an assistant creates in your account is your content, under the same rules as the rest: those in «Your content» and «Acceptable use». The questions are written by the assistant, and CanQuiz only checks that they have a valid shape, not that they are correct: review them before studying with them or sharing them. There are usage limits from the chat too, so that nobody can fill the service with junk, and CanQuiz can switch off a connected app that abuses it. The connection depends on third-party services CanQuiz does not control, and your use of ChatGPT or Claude is also governed by the terms of OpenAI or Anthropic.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as is and as available. Interruptions can happen, and features marked beta may change or disappear. These terms may be updated; material changes will be announced in the service.

Termination

You can stop using the service whenever you like. CanQuiz may suspend an account that breaches these terms. You can delete your account yourself from Settings > Privacy and account inside the app; deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, CanQuiz is not liable for indirect damages, loss of data or loss of profit arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits the rights consumer law grants you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. Nothing in this clause deprives you of the venue or the rights consumer law grants you as a user.
